For the better part of 3 decades, I have been surveying entrepreneurs and private practices to see where they advertise and what works for them. My clients and seminar attendees have tried over 150 different marketing techniques, of which less than half ever made money.
The Other Electronic Media
To answer a few questions I’ve gotten, yes Cable TV can work for certain products & services – it gets 3-stars (of 5). Ads can be produced at low cost by the station or a production company. Sometimes you get extra play for your ad on cable if they’re short of advertisers, so be sure to ask for extra free plays.
TV may require deep pockets to get results, so do surveys before you launch into TV. Steve and Julie Weintraub of The Gold & Diamond Source in Tampa now have a successful TV ad campaign, but only after months of expensive trial and error. Check out this recent ad for the flavor of what they do that works.
TV ads have an added benefit. Use them on your website, social media, etc. where they will stand out from amateur videos.
On radio I’ve only seen 2 approaches work for my clients. The best is a “remote broadcast” where the DJ broadcasts from your place of business. This can be very effective if they throw in a lot of prior ads announcing they’ll be at your location and provide give-aways to get their listeners to walk in your door. It boomed a transmission repair shop, a restaurant and others.
What Strategies Are Right for You?
Out of the 150 things my clients tried, only about 10% have been fairly reliable in making money.
The less money you have with which to market, the more careful you must be in how you spend it.
So I’ve worked out a way to help you apply sound marketing techniques. I am taking my most popular seminar, Marketing Strategies That Work, and turning it into a webinar you can attend right from your computer, tablet or smart phone. I will do it absolutely free for you and your friends on Wednesday, January 30 at 1:00 PST. Register now.
